Still have mine, then again I’m only a grad student.

2002 Pontiac Trans Am with an LS1 and a 4L60E (yeah it’s an auto). I got it before my junior year in high school. I’m (still) working on a set of WS6 wheels to put on it, but they’re back in STL and need A LOT of polishing.

I love it and don’t ever plan on getting rid of it.

I had a black 2000 Formula WS6 that I bought wrecked and fixed up my sophomore year of high school back in 04ish. It was a blast for a high schooler!

Throw a bigger stall in that 4L60E and you’ll have an entirely new perspective on automatics.

I bought my Yank 3500 used off LS1tech and it’s been going strong for about 7 years. If you haven’t ridden in a stalled LS1, DO IT.

Wish I could star this more. This is 100% correct.

Thanks! It was by far the best modification I ever put on the car. Second would have to be long tubes and full exhaust. The exhaust alone brought the car from 13.4s at 104 to 12.9s at 107.

After moving to PA I never tracked the car with the stall and gears I later installed. The plan is to get out there next Spring and hunt for 11s. She’s got a lid, Pacesetter long tubes, Motive 3.73s, a Yank 3500, rear drag shocks, rear suspension and some weight reduction.

On drag raidals low low low 12s should be in the bag, but plenty guys have gone high 11s with this kind of combination. I might have to go to Atco to do it, but that’s alright!

I stand by my belief that an LS1 Fbody is the fastest STOCK car you can easily find for under 5k. And the aftermarket? I don’t even have a grand into all the parts I listed above. They’re criminally cheap for that kind of performance.

If you’re in PA you could probably also run at Maple Grove.

And have you done subframe connectors yet? Those make a big difference in chassis rigidity.

Truth! The cool thing about this area is the amount of tracks a day trip away. I HAD subframe connectors, but they got stolen along with my catback and winter wheels while I had them off of the car.

I’ll probably do a big write up on here when I get her finished. I still have to build another catback, run the harness for the Racetronix pump I installed and get it inspected.

Once she’s back in fighting shape I thought about offering some OPPOs in the region free rides (and maybe drives). A good many here snub their noses at Fbodies (and GM in general) as well as automatics. Blowing the tires off at 30mph on dry pavement can be an eye opener.

Well, Steve Spohn is off of 422 in Myerstown and can do an A+ job welding in a set for you.

Yeah, F-bodies get a bad rap but that’s just the way it is. Some people care about odd makes and models, others about FWD pocket rockets, trucks, etc. To me, ANY year F-body is tough to beat for cheap speed with maybe a few exceptions. Won’t have the best interior, might not have the best build quality, but they are popular with many for a reason.

I’ll be damned I didn’t know they were a PA company! Fbodies are hard to beat and, like you said, the fit and finish might not be the best, but they are pretty damn reliable and easy to fix when something does break.

Your lucky, my little brother ruined my high school cars. He let my 1999 blazer over heat on the freeway and he totaled my trailblazer when he was messing with the radio and rear ended a monster truck based SUV.

He is why I never get to have sentimental things....

I’m a Junior in College but still have my 1998 Lexus Ls400 with nearly 290,000 miles. I always tell people I’m keeping it forever because I’m going to drive to drive it until the wheels fall off, bolt ‘em back on, and drive it more.

1989 Prelude SI... Bought it with about 175,000 miles, and loved it. Got stolen while I was in college. I didn’t miss it then, but I kind of miss it now.
